Jhoomar Baori is a stepwell in the old town of Pushkar. Its tiers of stone steps descend into still water, and on a calm evening the sky, the temples and the far side of the well are reflected so clearly that the water looks like a second building.

The last hour of light is the reason people come, and it is one of the easiest stops to add to a Rajasthan trip. We can arrange a car from Jaipur or Ajmer, or add it as a day detour on a longer route.

Getting the light right

The reflections depend on still air and low light, so the later you arrive the better the water looks. Arrive at least an hour before sunset, walk down the steps, and give the water a few minutes to settle.

Travel tips

  • Carry a wide-angle lens for the full stepwell.
  • Watch your footing on the wet stone steps.
  • Buses and autos also run from Ajmer if you are not taking a car.

Frequently asked questions

Is Jhoomar Baori a paid site?

There is a small entry fee, and it can change. We check the current rate before you travel.

Can we combine Pushkar with a Ranthambore safari?

Yes. Pushkar and Ajmer are on the way, so many guests add a Pushkar evening on a route that also covers Ranthambore.
